Feb 10 weird holidays

Grammy Awards Day - honors the best of the best in the music world. Growing up, our family would watch the award show. The best part: the performances. An interesting history of the award, along with music info, is available at www.grammy.com. Another musical holiday today is Gold Record Day, commemorating the first gold record ever awarded. The recipient: Glenn Miller in 1942 for the song Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Man Day. Did it start in honor of Adam? Or is it about work and time?

Plimsoll Day honors the man who made a difference in the shipping world: Samuel Plimsoll. Because of his concern for the safety of the crews on ships, he took his cause to the House of Commons and now all ships must bear the load line freeboard marking.

World Marriage Day celebrates man and woman as the head of the family unit. The holiday originated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and has spread its theme - Love One Antoher - around the globe.

Today's final reason to celebrate is Umbrella Day, an invention that has never dampened our spirits.
